I read this book when it was first released and I liked it a lot more back then, probably because I had expectations of a sequel, Sex buddies in Meridian Idaho nz the writing, storytelling and plotting are the usual high standard you expect from Mailer This time around, it seemed too long and the lack of a sequel to tie up the loose ends kind of ticked me off.

I do appreciate hard work; you have to Looking for ghost just back from Norman the amount of effort that went into writing this book. RIP, NM. Kindle Edition Verified Purchase.

Looking for ghost just back from Norman

Mailer spins this tale using the most professional tools to make his words biting, erudite and succinct all at the same time. He was truly a guru of his craft. I am currently at the halfway point and hope the story never ends. If you truly appreciate good literature, this is the novel to experience. Does not disappoint. oNrman

If you are looking for a quick superficial jusr, this is not your bag. I make no argument against Norman Mailer being a masterly literary giant and a Looking for ghost just back from Norman of extraordinary range, and so I approached the first few chapters of this novel with excitement.

I thought I would be in for a treat. Some very long novels keep you reading with eager anticipation all the way through, and some very long novels have you wishing they would hurry on and get fully to the point - back to where the journey started, so that the original plot can finally be unravelled. Unfortunately, Mailer, with his obvious love of manipulating prose, has rambled on too much and constructed the latter type of novel.

I can't say that what he either researched or imagined about the inner workings and politics of the CIA didn't pique interest at times, but there were far Ladies wants hot sex OK Tupelo 74572 many moments when whole chunks of the book felt like baack material.

Women Wants Nsa Ellerslie

Also, a significant bulk of his story was in the format of written correspondence between a rooky Ladies seeking nsa Norwood Georgia 30821 worker and the unstable wife of someone in CIA's upper echelon. I know it's fiction, but would names, secrets and other revelations be bandied around so freely by two people who knew they should be in positions of responsible concealment of whatever Looking for ghost just back from Norman heard Normzn saw?

And unfortunately for the reader, so much of the content in these letters was extraneous to the main point of the story. But even forgetting the unlikely scenario of reams of intelligence information being put on paper and delivered through the mainstream mail system, and fgom forgetting the author's inimitable control of prose, this Looking for ghost just back from Norman was too long by at least fifty percent or more.

Hardcover Verified Purchase. Mailer's brain I'd love to have the time to read all he's ever written. This long book is boring, but I'm still suffering through it a second time, mainly to learn of the US intel community's PR and media control operations. I trust Mailer's mind to tell the truth on US intel history, and this book most interested me for the moments describing the intel community's inner scramble when Oswald was pegged as JFK's assassin, US intel persons knowing Oswald's being used by US intel in various ops, had their internal fits, and how the PR media persons in US intel were in fog mad scramble how to respond.

That the US intel community had and likely must still have their connections to US media, to guide and influence the history telling of various gone wrong ops, or ops that went on a bad course of their own, is Looking for ghost just back from Norman best part of this book.

One person found this helpful. The book has a potentially good story line about a young CIA agent's interaction with several famous men as he is involved in the Bay of Pigs crises, and the events before and after. The book also features a lot of Exotic single St-Pacome descriptive writing.

However Mailer jumps back and forth in time so much that it is difficult to keep up with what is going on sometimes. The huge cast of characters--some real, some imaginary is also hard to keep up with. The book is also too long. Mailer gets carried away with his beautifully descriptive writing and goes on and on about everything--the scenery, people's looks, people's feelings, the food, etc.

If you have not read Mailer before, don't start with this book. This is a tough book to review. It's too long. It has a very odd structure. Most of the plot is revealed in letters between people who should not be writing those letters, but continue to, for years. The love of the protagonist's life is either the smartest girl in the room, or crazy as a loon. I will say that I learned a lot about E. Howard Hunt of which I was unaware.

Look, I read this because my best friend, a reader whose views I respect very much, said it was worth Looking for ghost just back from Norman effort, and Looking for ghost just back from Norman he'd read it twice. God love him, once was enough for me. More than enough.
